A British study found that boys are reading less than girls during the UK lockdown. More girls say they have been reading daily and have said they enjoy reading while at home.
Interestingly, more boys said they had listened to audiobooks more during lockdown, and more than half of these boys claimed that audiobooks had made reading more enjoyable.
Experts said that the “cool factor” of audiobooks plays an important role. Children can listen on their phones and do not need to share what they choose to read.
Experts also said that fathers and grandfathers should be role models to encourage more boys to read.
