The European Commission unveiled a €750 billion plan that will attempt to fight climate change as the union recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.

The recovery plan, named “Next Generation EU,” is arguably the world’s biggest “green” stimulus. It adopts the Green Deal, which aims to fulfill the Commission’s pledge to cut down carbon emission by 50 to 55% in the EU by 2030, and reach “net zero” in 2050.

The specifics of its climate spending plans include building renovations, clean hydrogen, renewable energy, and clean transport.

To pass, the plan requires unanimous backing from all 27 nations in the union.
