As the pandemic situation in Taiwan continues to escalate, more than 1,000 retired medical workers have registered to fight on the frontlines. The rapid rise in local cases has overburdened hospitals around Taipei. In less than one day, 1,121 personnel joined the cause to help combat the pandemic.
Medical workers will be trained before they are dispatched to help care for and monitor the health of residents who test positive for the coronavirus. They will be responsible for patients with minor or no symptoms. Over the last few days, Taipei and New Taipei have been hotspots in Taiwan’s worst-ever outbreak with large-scale community spread.
