US President Donald Trump has said that he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus and entered quarantine. This has not only cast new uncertainties on the US election campaign but has also fueled fears about who else in the president’s orbit may have been infected.
The White House Chief of Staff said that Trump was exhibiting “mild symptoms” of coronavirus and that a doctor was attending to him.
It is still unclear whether Trump will attend the next presidential debate on October 15 and how it will impact his ability to campaign in the final month of the race.
Trump’s campaign strategy so far has been to ignore or downplay Covid-19, which according to Johns Hopkins University has killed more than 207,000 Americans.
