As the coronavirus pandemic continues, most sporting events across the world were canceled, except Taiwan, which has so far kept the outbreak under control. The baseball league has begun its professional season.
However, with social distancing policies still in place, spectators are not allowed to see the games in the stadium. To boost morale, the staff fills the stands with fake spectators in the form of cardboard cutouts and plastic mannequins.
Even though fans cannot attend the games in person, they still find ways to show their support by watching broadcasts and recording virtual messages of encouragement for their favorite players. However, players and fans all say they miss the noise and exciting atmosphere of the game.
