The 9-day Dajia Mazu pilgrimage, the largest religious event in Taiwan, kicked off and went without a hitch on April 9 in central Taiwan. Annually, Dajia Mazu, the goddess of the sea, holds a round-trip pilgrimage from Jenn Lann Temple at Dajia District in Taichung to Fengtian Temple at Xingang Township in Chiayi County. Mazu’s sedan chair will stop at around one hundred temples on the 340-kilometer journey.
This year, the Taiwan Digital Diplomacy Association invited diplomats from 13 countries and nearly 100 foreigners to take a one-day trip to attend the ceremony, hoping to promote cross-cultural exchange. Moreover, Radio Taiwan International live-streamed the start of the procession in 11 languages on the 17LIVE platform for the first time, allowing more people to join and worship online.
