Nearly 90% of Taiwanese moms feel exhausted and anxious about work-family conflict

A recent survey by online job bank yes123 found that nearly 90% of working moms struggle to find a balance between job and family. Most of them are under economic pressure. However, to more than half of the respondents, the workplace is not friendly toward them and they have to face discrimination just because they have a family and kids.

On average, working mothers work 10.6 hours per day, while they only spend 105 minutes a day with their children, which makes them feel guilty. Taiwanese working mothers are expected to support the family financially, excel at work, raise kids, and sometimes even take care of the elders in the family. They are “burning the candle at four ends,” according to the spokesperson of yes123.
