Low-temperature deliveries halted due to increase of online orders

Taiwan has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases beginning in mid-May. The government later imposed several restrictions under Level 3 alert. People have been asked to stay at home unless it is necessary to go out, which has resulted in an unprecedented amount of online orders for goods. Some perishables have to be kept and shipped at a low temperature, enormously straining the resources of delivery companies.

Therefore, President Transnet Corp, who operates the delivery service Takkyubin, announced on June 1 that low-temperature parcel shipments would be halted in Taipei, New Taipei city, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu until June 3. It will also temporarily stop accepting frozen and chilled parcels from general consumers such as 7-Eleven and OK-Mart until June 14.

The company cannot guarantee to deliver packages on the next day before June 14. Customers are suggested to check the expiration date of products before sending them.
