A Taiwanese documentary, titled Phil’s Journey, chronicles the experiences of a man from New Zealand who searched for his missing son in Taiwan and officially opened in theaters across Taiwan recently.
Phil Tchernegovski took to find his son, who disappeared during a solo backpacking trip in the Alishan area, on six trips to Taiwan between 1998 and 2002. He developed an affinity for Taiwan and its people during that time even though his son was never found.
In the beginning, Tchernegovski questioned the director’s motivation for making the documentary. The director told Tchernegovski that he would document the kindness of the Taiwanese people, and he immediately agreed.
