花旗撤出全球13區消金市場Citi to Exit Retail Banking in Taiwan

Citigroup plans to exit retail banking in more than 10 markets across Europe, Africa, and Asia, including Taiwan.

The bank will stop its consumer franchises and instead operate them in four wealth centers in Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and London.

Asian countries in which Citigroup will exit its consumer franchises include China, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The firm will continue to offer products in those markets to customers of its institutional clients group.

Given Citigroup’s record quarterly profit, the bank thinks these markets are not competitive enough and should deploy resources in wealth management and institutional businesses in Asia.
