Due to the discrimination, violence, and stagnant wage growth, Taiwan is experiencing a great exodus of nurses amid the current COVID-19 surge. Nearly 800 nursing staff left between February and May this year.
Experts say the growing discrimination is putting mental and physical strain on medical staff. For example, one nurse’s mother-in-law had threatened to ban her from returning home during the pandemic.
In addition, the average monthly salary for nurses in Taiwan has hovered around NT$40,000 for four years. This is another factor that drives nurses away.

There has been an exodus of refugees from country A to country B.現在不斷有難民從 A 國湧入 B 國。
